Robert W. Giallongo, 77, of Salem and formerly of Kingston, NH and Methuen, MA, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Lawrence, MA, son of the late Serafino and Mary (Siatkowski) Giallongo, he was raised in Methuen and graduated from the former Haverhill Trade School with the Class of 1959.
Mr. Giallongo was first employed at Lawrence Packaging and later as a security guard at AT&T Technologies, and finally as an assembler at Hewlett-Packard.
A longtime member of the former Saint Frederick's Parish of Kingston, and presently a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish of Plaistow and Newton, he was also a member of St. Jude Council of the Knights of Columbus and a volunteer for the food pantry at Saint Frederick's Church. He coached baseball for over twenty years and was a Past President of the Methuen Fire Department Babe Ruth League. He also volunteered for the Telephone Pioneers Clown Group under the name of "GG" the Clown.
He is survived by his wife Marcelle (Fisette) Giallongo, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Stefanie Giallongo of Salem, a sister Barbara Murphy of Hampstead, and two nephews, a niece, several great nephews and great nieces, an uncle and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Giallongo.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 in the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.
