Obituary

Plaistow: Robert H. Gagnon, 83, a resident of Plaistow for the last fifty-three years, died January 23, 2020 at Exeter Hospital. Born in Marblehead, MA, son of the late Isadore and Winifred (Dedrick) Gagnon, he was mostly raised and educated in Salem NH. A 1956 graduate of Woodbury High School, Robert was a tri-sport athlete lettering in Football, Basketball and Baseball. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November of 1956, and served honorably until his discharge in 1960 as a CT-3.
Robert was first employed as a manager for Vernon Plastics and later established his own business, New England Lamprint of Lowell, which he owned and operated for several years. He earned a Real Estate license and also operated Gagnon Real Estate in Plaistow for many years. In his later years, he worked as a security guard at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH.
A member of AmVets Post 147 of Haverhill, Robert also enjoyed bowling as a member of the Thursday Night League at Pilgrim Lanes and eventually Academy Lanes in Bradford. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins, as well as watching the horse racing at Rockingham Park and dog racing at Seabrook Dog Track. In his younger years, he was a coach for both men's and women's softball leagues in Haverhill.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-six years, Penny D. (Silver) Gagnon, a son, Robert H. Gagnon,Jr., of Plaistow, a brother Donald Gagnon of Jacksonville, N.C., four grandchildren Rachel, Kelly, Scott and Morgan, two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jayce, nieces and nephews, Lori F. Clark and her husband Kerry of Hampstead, Karen Hatch of Warren, NH, Donald Gagnon, Jr., Thomas Gagnon, Sherri Davis, Tracy Carroll, and Timothy Martin, all of North Carolina, and several great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Sharon Bryant, and sisters, Paula Martin and Carol Moats.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday evening, January 30, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Burial with Military Honors will take place in the spring at Plaistow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
