Springfield, MA: Robert W. Daignault, 74, of Springfield and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, Robert was the son of the late Henry and Pearl (Belanger) Daignault, and attended Hannah Duston School and Haverhill Trade School. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private.
Robert was employed for twenty-four years by the City of Haverhill Public Works Department in the Parks and Trees Division. He also delivered newspapers for the Eagle-Tribune for ten years and worked at The Paper Mill in Rowley. A former member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph Parish, Robert was also a life member of the AmVets Post of Haverhill and the Wilbur M. Comeau Post of the American Legion. Robert held a brown belt in martial arts and enjoyed bowling, landscaping, dancing, cruising, watching movies, listening to music and loved spending quality time with family and friends.
Robert will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Marisol Aponte, two daughters, Dawn Hoyt and her husband David, of Dover, NH, and Sherry Murray of Derry, NH, two sisters, Donna Dusombre of Haverhill and Susan Marshall and her companion Chris Lambropoulos, of Haverhill, his brother-in-law, Joseph Jennings of Haverhill, his sister-in-law, Charlotte Belanger of Haverhill, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his aunt Rita Gobeil, of Haverhill and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph "Ronnie" Belanger, John Belanger, Donald Daignault, Henry Daignault, and Richard Daignault, and his sisters, June Eaton and Linda Jennings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours to be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home and followed by burial with Military Honors in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to help the family with final expenses.
