Methuen, MA: Robert Lionel Begin, born September 7, 1939, passed quietly from this world on February 20, 2024, at Andover Forest.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Lionel J. Begin and Gertrude (Bouchard) Begin, as well as his sister, Carol (Begin) McDonald. He is survived by two sisters Janice Begin & Michelle (Begin) Page, both of Methuen, MA; A brother Raymond Begin and his wife Linda of Methuen, MA. Bob will be sorely missed by nephew Michael McDonald and his wife Gina of Fallston, MD; along with his nieces; Erica Begin and her husband Mark Donelan of Dracut, MA; Ashley Landers and husband Dan Landers of Andover, MA; and Jessica Page and her friend Scott Bailey of Salem, MA; In addition, Bob leaves behind his grandnieces Madeline McDonald and friend Steven Hogan of Virginia; Rori McDonald of Maryland; Abigail and Anna Donelan of Dracut; Olivia and Emilie Landers of Andover, MA; and a grand nephew, Benjamin Landers of Andover, MA.

Bob earned his Associates degree from Northern Essex Community college and had added significant work towards a bachelor's degree, when work, life and responsibility curtailed the completion.

A veteran of the United States Army, Bob retired in 1996 from his adored position as a training manager at the former Lucent Technology company in North Andover, MA.

Bob enjoyed traveling, dining out and ballroom dancing. He was an avid reader of literature and historical novels. Bob was an excellent cook and a lifetime gardener with the greenest of green thumbs. In addition to other flowers and blooming plants, Bob grew and propagated (to share, to give away, and at one point to show and to sell) geraniums.

Bob loved people and, to him, every stranger was a friend, and every friend became an admirer.

Bob, we do miss your sense of humor, your gentle heart, your charm, your "gift of gab", your love and your smile. And… we will miss, forever, the gift, to us, of you, Bob.

At Bob's request, funeral services and burial will be private and under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow NH. Bob will be laid to rest at West Hampstead Cemetery in Hampstead NH.
