Rita (Ciampaglia) Sampson, 93, a resident of Plaistow, NH for almost 70 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of William R. Sampson, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.
She was born, raised, and educated in Boston, MA. She was the daughter of the late Carmen Luigi and Maria Ciampaglia. She was a graduate of the Girls High School in Boston and Bryant & Stratton Business School in Boston. She was a dance instructor at the Perkins Institute for the Blind and Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Boston and also Arthur Murray Dance school, where she met her husband, Ralph.
Rita was co-owner of the Busy Bee Donut Shop in Plaistow, NH from 1965-1977. She was later employed as a tax auditor for the I.R.S. until her retirement where she then embarked her best job of all which she tremendously enjoyed, that was being a grandmother, "Nanny". She enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting, sewing, trips to Europe, camping, gardening, and RV'ing. Rita was a member of the Good SAM's R.V. Club "Blazers" chapter. She was one of the original members of the Timberlane Music Association (TMA) Band Parents Association and a member of the Mother of Twins Club. Rita was a longtime parishioner of Holy Angels of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish in Plaistow, NH. She was very proud that her husband belonged to the Masonic Temple in Salem, NH of which she joined their sister group, Club 85 which was known as "The Special Ladies". She was a very active member of the Plaistow community helping out with the Vic Geary Center, weeding the flower beds of the Town Hall, and helping with many organizations including Plaistow's Elderly Affairs. Her love for family and community were definitely her personal joys.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children; her son Steven A. Sampson (and his wife Linda) of Danville, NH, Thomas M. Sampson of Plaistow, NH, Suzanne M. Sampson (and her husband Michael Orsillo) of Pelham, NH and Dianne S. Healey (and her husband Michael) of Atkinson, NH, her treasured grandchildren Timothy J. Healey of Danvers, MA, Madison M. Healey of Stow, MA, 2nd Lt. Patrick J. Healey of Tokyo, Japan, and Ryan J. Healey of Atkinson, NH. She also leaves behind her nephew Ronald Logue (and his late wife Kathleen McGillycuddy) of Dennis, MA, nephew George Logue (and his wife Susan), of Wellesley Hills, MA and niece Maria (Logue) Ostman of Braintree, MA plus many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was sadly predeceased by her sister Isabella (Ciampaglia) Logue of Holbrook, MA.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 4pm - 7pm at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin at the funeral home at 9am on Wednesday, August 28. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am at Holy Angels of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, NH. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Haverhill, MA. Donations can be made to St. Anthony of Padua, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and/or Hospice Healthcare.
