Obituary

Plaistow, NH: Rita L. (Lacerte) Comeau, 94, a resident of Plaistow for over fifty years, died May 6, 2018 at Sutton Hill Center in North Andover, following a period of declining health.

Born in Haverhill on May 27, 1923, daughter of the late Hormidas and Florida (Gagnon) Lacerte, she attended Saint Joseph Grammar School. Employed as a bench worker for over thirty-one years, she worked first at Western Electric Co. and retired from A T & T Technologies. She was a member of the Communication Workers of America.

Following her retirement, she pursued her passion caring for young children until illness forced her final retirement at the age of 84. Mrs. Comeau battled stage four lymphoma for several years with the love and support of her family and friends, her determination and stubbornness, and the excellent care provided by her oncologist, Dr. Danny Sims of New Hampshire Oncology. She was able to conquer her cancer and remain living in her home for the last seven years.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two sons and a daughter-in law, Ronald J. Comeau of Hampstead, and Richard and Donna Comeau of Windham, two daughters and son-in-law, Laurie J. Comeau of Plaistow, and Denise A. and David White of Fremont, a brother Bertrand Lacerte of Bradford, five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, a cousin Alphege Lacerte and his wife Mavis of California, many nieces and nephews, and her "special grandchildren" Rebecca Carver and Chase and Lily Durn. She was predeceased by her brother, Roland Lacerte, sisters, Beatrice Deveau, and Lucille Eastis, and a nephew Donald Lacerte.

Burial services in Plaistow Cemetery under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home of Plaistow will be private. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her devotion to children, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN or to the Shriner's Hospital of Boston.
