Haverhill: Rita J. (Cunningham) Dusombre, 70, a resident of Haverhill all of her life, died peacefully on Sunday morning, June 23, 2019 at Merrimack Valley Health Center in Amesbury, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Lawrence and Yvonne (Proulx) Cunningham, she attended Hannah Duston School and Haverhill High School.
Mrs. Dusombre was last employed as a Supervisor at Haverhill Industries and previously worked at the former YumYum Shop Bakery at West Gate Center in Haverhill.
A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Rita's Parish, she was an avid reader and enjoyed completing puzzles and playing bingo. She also enjoyed candlepin bowling as a member of leagues at Pilgrim Lanes and Saint Joseph Bowling Lanes. She also served as a coach and secretary of the Haverhill Girls' Softball League.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John Dusombre in 2012, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph E. Jr. and Teresa Belanger of Haverhill, daughters and sons-in-law, Karen (Belanger) and Gregory Sargent of Randolph, VT, Michelle (Belanger) McCarthy of Haverhill and her companion Brian Young, and Johanna (Belanger) and Joseph Metthe of Danville, NH, two step-daughters, Lisa Hannafin and her husband Robert of Winthrop and Lynn Dusombre of Haverhill, four brothers, John Cunningham of Haverhill, Dennis Cunningham of Fall River, Leon Cunningham of Newburyport, and Mark Cunningham of Haverhill, six sisters, Yvonne Cunningham of East Kingston, NH, Rosemary Chabot, Priscilla Williams, Linda Fuller and Joyce Ellenwood, all of Haverhill, and Geneva Cunningham, of Lowell, eleven grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson Jordan Regan, a brother Kevin Cunningham, and a sister Marie Hartford and her dog Nicky.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rita's Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill.
