Haverhill, MA:  Rita M. (Legault) Basiliere, 92, of Haverhill, MA, died peacefully on November 30, 2021 at the Wingate Nursing Home in Haverhill.

Born in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of the late Henry and Yvonne (Morin) Legault, she attended St. Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill High School, graduating with the Class of 1946.  Rita was a co-owner and the Bookkeeper at Herb's Seafood, which was located in the center of Lafayette Square in Haverhill.  She also worked as a Supervisor at the Internal Revenue Service many years ago.

Rita was a member of All Saints Parish, Haverhill and the former St. Joseph Parish, where she was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne's Society.  She enjoyed collecting miniature dollhouses, reading, sketching with charcoal pencils, and swimming and playing tennis at Cedardale Health & Fitness Center.  She also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and vacationing at the Stonehurst Manor in North Conway, NH and the Golden Eagle Resort in Stowe, VT.

Rita was pre-deceased by her husband, Herbert N. Basiliere, who died on June 30, 2020, and to whom she had been married to for almost 70 years at the time of his death.

Rita will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Neil Chambers; three grandchildren, Matthew Smart and his wife, Amanda of Newton, NH, Jennifer Chambers of Haverhill, MA and Heather Chambers of Salisbury, MA; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Chloe; and her best friends, Joan Blacklaw of Salem, NH and Carol Cronin of Salem, NH.

Rita was pre-deceased by her sister, Lorette Trombley and her brothers, Hector Legault, Arthur Legault and Paul Legault.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rita's Life Celebration to be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 3 to 5 PM at BERUBE-COMEAU Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.  Her funeral will begin on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 9 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in All Saints Church, Haverhill.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill.
