Richard C. Wareing, 87, of Sandown, NH, passed away August 20 surrounded by his family. Born in Dracut, MA, he was the beloved son of the late Ernest and Laura (Dwyer) Wareing. Richard leaves behind his loving wife, Jacqueline E. (Dolan) Wareing who just celebrated their 45 th wedding anniversary together In July.
Richard was educated in Lawrence, MA and at 17 joined and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1949 until his honorable discharge in 1951. Richard served the Marines as an infantry rifleman in the Korean War and was also deployed to Japan, Philippines and Guam and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
In the early 1960s, Richard worked at Clevite of Boston, makers of transistors diodes and other parts that were used in the Minuteman Missiles. Later, Clevite was bought by ITT Semiconductors where Richard worked as a Senior Supervisor for more than 25 years before semi-retiring. Richard then started his own semi-conductor company, 4LD Inc., located in Sandown, NH and served as President along with his wife Jacqueline who served as Vice-President. Together they continued their successful business for 2 decades working with the U.S. Government. 4LD Inc., was later sold as they entered full retirement.
Richard and Jacqueline resided at their family home on Angle Pond, Sandown, NH and also enjoyed their winter home in Port Saint Lucie, Fl. Together they shared decades of travel and spent much of their time on Angle Pond, NH with their many children and grandchildren enjoying swimming, family cookouts, water skiing, boating, and fishing. Richard was an avid golfer and candlepin bowler and was President of many bowling leagues throughout the Merrimack Valley including the ITT Candlepin Bowling League.
In addition to his wife Jacqueline, Richard is also survived by his sons Richard Wareing and wife Kathy, Freedom, James Wareing of Boston, MA, John Borrelli, Sandown, daughters, Christine Marotte and partner David Chavers, Nashua, Joanne Whiteneck and husband Glen, Hampstead, Linda Pecci and husband Mark, Lawrence, MA, Donna Trainor, Alstead, Denise Clegg, Lawrence, MA, and Diane Feugill and husband Gary, Methuen, MA . Richard also leaves behind his sister Nancy and husband John Keraghan, Fremont and brother Milton and wife Nancy, Methuen, MA. Richard is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He also loved and enjoyed the company of their dog, Precious.
Richard was predeceased by sons Michael Wareing of Tewksbury, MA, Charles Wareing of Cummings, GA and Glenn Wareing of Salem, NH and a sister, Laura Bazdanes of Methuen, MA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, August 30 between 4-7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH 03865. His funeral service will follow at 7:15 PM in the funeral home. Burial services at Center Cemetery, Sandown will be private and at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Semper Fi Fund, Box 555193, Camp Pendleton, CA 92055-5193.
