Haverhill – Richard J. Schloth, 89, passed away Tuesday January 10, 2023 at the High Point House in Haverhill, following a period of failing health.
Born November 16, 1933 in Haverhill, he was the son of the late William and Lucille (Rival) Schloth.
Mr. Schloth was a graduate of Haverhill High School. In his early working years, he started with the Boston and Maine Railroad followed by Western Electric/Lucent Technologies, then the Burns and Towne Company, and finishing his career after 40 years as a Quality Control Inspector for Laminated Plastics.
Richard loved sports. He played both football and baseball in high school, and later played American Legion Baseball. He also enjoyed going to the sporting events of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He loved being able to decipher how things worked and had the skills to fix everything. He delighted in square and round dancing with his beloved wife, and friends. He was a member of All Saints Parish in Haverhill, and happily volunteered for many years. He was always there to help his children, loved family gatherings, and playing cards, especially 45's. Richard greatly enjoyed his home where he had peace and happiness.
He will be sadly missed, and lovingly remembered by his children Patricia Wood and husband Philip (Pep) of Haverhill, MA; Fr. Brian Schloth of Attleboro, MA; and Laurie Moll and husband Lawrence of Haverhill, MA; six grandchildren Matthew, Melissa, Andrew, Kimberly, Meredith, and Benjamin, and eight great-grandchildren Nicholas, Thomas, Amber, Cole, Connor, Ethan, Maria, and Dominic, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Arline (Lawrence) Schloth, and his brother William Schloth.
Family and friends may visit Friday January 13, 2023 from 4PM – 7PM at the Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, in Haverhill.
His funeral service will begin Saturday January 14, at 9:00 AM at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10AM at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave, Haverhill.
Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
