Atkinson, NH: Richard "Dick" James Roy of Atkinson passed away peacefully on May 27, 2018 at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont. Born in North Adams, MA the son of the late George and Bertha (Hunter) Roy. He graduated from Drury High School in North Adams class of 1955 and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Dick worked at Verizon as a central office technician until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed hiking in the woods, fishing, and singing in a barbershop chorus named "The Sounds of Concord".

Dick will be missed and loved always by his wife Mary Ann (Wicke), his son Richard J. Roy of Plaistow, and daughter Karen Roy and her husband John Gerety of Marshfield. He was predeceased by his daughters Kathleen and Christine. Dick is survived by his brother Francis Roy of Newton, MA and predeceased by his brothers Norman, Kenneth, Robert, and sister Eleanor.

Relatives and friends may attend Dick's life celebration to be held on Thursday May 31, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow NH. A funeral service to follow at 7:15 PM in the funeral home. Burial will take place on Friday June 1, 2018 at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pepperell, MA.
