Obituary

On February 14, 2022, our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Richard "Rich" Merrill Janvrin, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Plaistow, NH. Richard was born in Newburyport, MA, the 3 rd child of the recently late Dorothy (Wood) and Edward Janvrin, who passed away in 1965.

He was raised and educated in Plaistow, graduating from Timberlane Regional High School. Rich worked at Salemhaven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Environmental Services for many years. As his co-worker Ray wrote, "He lived for the residents' quality of life…he sincerely enjoyed seeing other people happy and received great satisfaction and pride making sure those around him got what they wanted and needed." This attitude guided his relationships in his personal life as well.

For many years he took care of his mother, "Dot", with unconditional love and patience – that's who he was, a thoughtful and gentle man. Their relationship was special and rare.

Although unassuming and private, if you were in his presence, you would experience his subtle humor, vast and varied knowledge and interests, all wrapped up in a persona of kindness.

When not at work, he enjoyed maintaining his house and yard, keeping the grass mowed, the garden thriving, and the birds well-fed. His pastimes included fishing, begun with his brothers at an early age, one of his favorite spots was Gile Pond. He also enjoyed NASCAR, the Red Sox, and the Patriots, Rich could often be found watching a race or game. He had a well-equipped workshop to aid in his many projects. In addition, he loved to collect art and memorabilia, which he enjoyed displaying around his home.

Rich is survived by his three siblings, Diane Mears and her husband, Jack of Boothbay, ME, David Janvrin of Bradford, NH and John Janvrin of Haverhill, MA; niece, Tiffany Horgan and her spouse, Kerri of Tyngsboro, MA and their daughter, Rich's great-niece, Emma; extended family Walter Proctor and his wife, Chera and their daughter, Brittany of Plaistow, NH; as well as many other friends and relatives.

Words defy the magnitude of loss we feel, let us honor his memory by emulating his spirit in treating those around us with kindness, remembering to laugh, remembering to love.

For those who wish, memorial donations in Rich's name may be made to Salemhaven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Salem, NH.
