Haverhill: Richard G. Jegorow, 71, a resident of Haverhill for the past fifty-six years, died peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Krakow, Poland, son of the late Jakub and Josefa (Majka) Jegorow, he moved to Australia at the age of thirteen before immigrating to the United States and settling in Haverhill in 1961. He was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1965 and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal. He later received his Associates Degree from Northern Essex Community College.
Mr. Jegorow was employed for twenty years at Honeywell Corporation and later worked for the City of Haverhill School Department for twenty years before his retirement. He was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph and Saint Michael Parishes of Haverhill.
A man of great faith, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed meticulously maintaining his car, and working in his yard. He was also an avid Boston Bruins fan and very proud of his Polish heritage.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-nine years, Gracelyn (Covely) Jegorow, three sons, Richard G. "Rick" Jegorow, Jr. and his wife Michelle (Heieck) Jegorow of Haverhill, Peter J. Jegorow and his fiancé Kellie Young of Haverhill and Andrew Jegorow and his girlfriend Kelly Rochford of Haverhill, a daughter Teresa (Jegorow) Glynn and her husband Thomas of Haverhill, also seven grandchildren, Kylee Pailes, Richard "Ricky" Jegorow, Matthew Glynn, Nicholas Glynn, Meghan Jegorow, Jakub Jegorow, Zackary Jegorow, and a great-granddaughter, Aubree Jean Pailes. He was predeceased by a grand-daughter, Cecelia Jegorow.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Jegorow's Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, April 11, 20-17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at BERUBE- Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, (Route 97), Haverhill. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a. m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery.
