Haverhill, MA: Richard P. Holmes, 68, a resident of Haverhill for forty-five years died on May 8, 2014 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.
Born, raised, and educated in Waltham, MA, son of the late Leslie and Rita (LaRosse) Holmes, he attended Waltham High School and later received his G.E.D. Mr. Holmes served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1967 during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Holmes was also owner and operator of R.P. Holmes Environmental, a local lead paint inspection business, for many years. He was previously employed as a manager at Hillcrest Function Facility, as a manager at Christy's Market in Bradford for eleven years, and as a warehouse manager at Vernon Plastics for ten years.
Mr. Holmes enjoyed taking trips to Lake Winnipesaukee and the Caribbean. He had also recently become a minister in November of 2013.
He is survived by his niece, Jodi Villafane, his God daughter, Britney Villafane, a sister, Carol Ciarla, his adopted son, Dale Holmes, step children, James Hall, Kevin Buttoli, and Robin Brayman, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on June 1 from 3 to 4 p.m. at First Church of Christ, Bradford, MA. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
