Plaistow, NH: Richard L. Heider, Jr., 82, of Plaistow, NH, died February 3, 2026, at Cedar View Healthcare Center in Methuen, MA.
Born in Lawrence. MA. and raised and educated in North Andover, Richard was the son of the late Richard and Marjorie (Gill) Heider and attended local schools. He was a member of the North Andover High School Class of 1961 and Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church of North Andover. A veteran of the Vietnam era, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1961 and served honorably as an Air Man 2nd Class until his discharge in 1965 and was a recipient of the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. A Master Electrician, Richard graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Boston and worked for local contractors before being employed at Northern Essex Community College. He later worked for thirty years for Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the Bates Linear Accelerator Center in Middleton, MA until his retirement.
Richard was a resident of Plaistow since 1971 and was a member of the Cochichewick Lodge of Masons, F&AM of North Andover and the Carl Davis Post #34 of the American Legion, Plaistow. He was an avid NASCAR and New England Patriots fan an also enjoyed motorcycling, visiting the White Mountains of New Hampshire and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased in February of 2025, by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-five years, Antoinette “Toni” (DeHullu) Heider, and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Matthew Farrington, of Barnard, VT, two grandsons, Graham Farrington and Milo Farrington of Barnard, and a niece Nicole Lewis of Centerville, TN. He was predeceased by his sister Carolyn Comtois.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 11a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. A graveside committal service with military honors will take place on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the State of New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. For those wishing to make memorial donations in Richard’s name the family would like you to consider The Plaistow Fire Department, Elm St., Plaistow, NH.
