Deluca
September 8, 1933 – September 6, 2022
Plaistow, NH: Richard A. "Dick" DeLuca, 88, a resident of Plaistow for forty years, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, two days before his 89 th birthday.
Born and raised in Haverhill, Massachusetts, son of the late Michael and Antonette (Auricchio) DeLuca, he attended the Tilton School and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1951. He went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1955 from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and later his Master's Degree from the University of New Hampshire.
Mr. DeLuca served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps as a First Lieutenant from 1956 until 1958 and was discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1963.
He was employed as an Engineer for all of his career at Western Electric Co., AT&T Technologies, and Lucent Technologies and retired in 1993 as an Assistant Manager.
Mr. DeLuca was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill, and enjoyed golfing as a member of the Lucent Golf League. He also enjoyed traveling across the United States and parts of Europe, and enjoyed alpine skiing up until his later life. He was well-known for his ability to complete home repair projects around his property and also well appreciated by family and friends for his willingness to assist them with their own home projects. A longtime avid fan of basketball, football and baseball, he recently enjoyed completing crossword puzzles.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving and devoted wife of forty years, Marie Elizabeth "Betty" (Morin) DeLuca, two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean M. and Thomas Ganley of Cranford, NJ, and Karen M. and Steve Gudroe of Dexter, ME, two sons and daughters-in-law, David P. and Rhonda DeLuca of East Hampstead, and Paul R. and Wendy DeLuca of Chelmsford, MA; a son-in-law, Stewart Wood of Wyoming, a sister Madeleine O'Brien of Tewksbury, MA, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Deluca of Florida, Marguerite Nordengren of Bradford, Jeanne Comiskey of Haverhill, a brother-in-law William Morin of Exeter, NH, twelve grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Claire, Lynne, Kevin, Patrick, Tom, Vassily, Alexei, Owen, Colin and Sophia; seven great-grandchilren, Nathan, Leo, Nina, Aiden, Theodore, Christopher and Julia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Vicki (DeLuca) Wood, a brother Pasquale DeLuca and a sister Corinne Grise.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to be held on Monday morning, September 12, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill.
