Clark
October 12, 1943 – August 19, 2024
Hampstead, NH: Richard A. Clark, 80, a lifelong resident of Hampstead, died peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren, on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Exeter Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, he was raised and educated in Hampstead, and was the son of the late Walter F. Clark, Jr. and the late Jayne A. (Eastman) (Clark) Hall. He was the stepson of the late Russell Hall, who also helped to raise him.
Richard graduated Pinkerton Academy in Derry and attended Bentley College for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Europe and was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class. He then continued his education at New Hampshire College and graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance.
Richard's initial career spanned many years as the Chief Financial Officer at several hospitals including Nantucket Cottage Hospital, Frisbee Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NH, and Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT. He was later an accounts receivable consultant at several medical institutions. He also owned and operated a collection agency.
A member of the Hampstead Congregational Church throughout his life, Richard was also a member of the Hampstead Civic Club, Salem Elks Club ,and the American Legion Post # 115. He also served as the treasurer for the Town of Hampstead
Athletics was an important part of Richard's life during his youth as well as during his high school and college years, and later as a member of the Men's Softball League of Hampstead. He also volunteered as a coach for his daughter's softball team and supported his son's participation in hockey, football and baseball. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, cruises and trips to Bermuda and Florida.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Stacey E. Clark and her loving companion, Douglas Coish of Hampstead, and his son and daughter-in-law, Chad R. and Elizabeth Clark of Hampstead; six grandchildren, MacKenzie Demmons, Jackson Clark, Olivia Clark, Adrianna Clark, Morgan Schoenenberger and Madison Schoenenberger, and several nieces, nephews, and many good friends. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Stan Lapham, and nephews John and Brian.
Relatives and friends are invited to Richard's Life Celebration to be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 12 o'clock noon at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home and will be followed by burial with military honors in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead.
