Seabrook, NH: Richard A. "Babe" Credit, 80, of Seabrook and a longtime former resident of Blaisdell Street, Haverhill, MA, died on August 8, 2014 at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, son of the late Arthur and Eva (Phaneuf) Credit, he attended Haverhill High School and graduated from Haverhill Trade School. A recipient of the Marksman Badge, Mr. Credit served in United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1957 to 1959 and again from 1961 to 1963 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class.
Mr. Credit was employed as a Foreman at Brentwood Furniture for thirty-eight years until 1986 and then later by the City of Haverhill Parks Department until his retirement in 1996.
A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling around the country. Mr. Credit was a former member of the Haverhill Y.M.C.A where he enjoyed playing squash, racquetball, and ping pong. An avid jogger, Mr. Credit also completed several half marathons.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Virginia A. "Ginny" (Bean) Credit, a daughter, Eva L. Bilodeau and her fiancé Fernando Collazo of Seabrook, a sister, Rose Marie Allen of Severn, MD, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Henry Credit, Paul Credit, Robert Credit, Arthur Credit and Leo Credit, his sisters, Helen Sickel, Irene Milot, and Jeannette Bourdon.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 7:15 p.m. in the funeral home followed by the rendering of military honors by the United States Army.
