Obituary

EAST HAMPSTEAD, N.H. – Raymond Ernest Lieber, Jr., 89, of East Hampstead, passed away on November 5, 2019 at home surrounded by family. He was born on May 18, 1930 in Haverhill, M.A. to the late Dorothy (Hammond) and Raymond E. Lieber, Sr.

Ray grew up in Haverhill, M.A. where he attended Smiley School. He graduated from Haverhill High School and Haverhill Trade School where he was trained as a sheet metal worker. After graduating, he entered the Air Force. He served from 1951-1955, during the Korean War. Ray was a Special Forces soldier and a sharp shooter with the 1009 special weapon's squadron, where he reached the rank of staff sergeant. He was stationed in Alaska and Key West, FL. After his service, Ray was employed by Raytheon where he worked for 35 years.

Ray was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 1505 and American Legion Post 200. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Hampstead, N.H.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances (Hinds), of East Hampstead, N.H., and 4 daughters and their spouses, Dawna Lieber and Kendra Maroon, North Fort Myers, F.L.; Nancy and Christopher Mahoney, Pittsfield, N.H.; Linda and Steven Harms, Fremont, N.H.; and Brenda and Richard Duquette, East Hampstead, N.H.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Janet Lieber, Plaistow, N.H.; grandchildren, Amanda (Mahoney) and Nick Gallo, Pittsfield, N.H.; Joseph Duquette, Fremont, N.H.; Heather (Duquette) and Roberto Ranno, Londonderry, N.H.; and Benjamin Harms, Fremont, N.H.; great-grandchildren, Luca and Eliana Ranno and Jace Gallo; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his niece, Debra (Lieber) Walker and his great-grandson, Dylan Gallo, who died in infancy.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, November 10, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. A burial with military honors will be held for the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
