Raymond P. Lamprey peacefully departed this world on Sunday, February 18, 2024, in Boston, at the age of 74. Born on August 13th, 1949, in Bethesda, Maryland, Ray was the son of the late Ronald Lamprey; Viola (Yeager) Lamprey. He was a 1967 graduate of Amesbury High School and later earned his master's degree in history at Salem State University.
Ray honorably served his country as a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran, embodying courage and dedication throughout his military tenure. He celebrated 50 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Kathleen (Leschensky) Lamprey of Haverhill, MA, and together they raised their cherished children, Joyelle Sullivan of Haverhill, MA, and Zackary Lamprey of Freemont, NH.
Ray possessed a remarkable ability to spread joy. His infectious laughter and quick wit could lift spirits even on the darkest of days. Whether sharing old tales or cracking jokes at family gatherings, Ray's presence consistently brought warmth and happiness to those around him. Ray had a compassionate soul. He readily offered support and a listening ear to anyone in need, making everyone feel valued and welcomed. Though Ray has left this world, his spirit endures in the memories he leaves behind. His laughter remains etched in the hearts of all who knew him, reminding us to treasure the moments shared with him.
Also mourning Ray's loss are Timothy Lamprey and his spouse Joyce Mackey of Byfield Ma, Thomas Lamprey of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, Stephen Lamprey of Hampstead NH, Elizabeth O'Brien of Portsmouth, NH, William Lamprey and his wife Melanie of Westford, MA, Susan Freeman and her husband Craig of Northwood, NH, beloved granddaughter, Madalyn Sullivan of South Royalton, Vermont, Patricia Zmetrovich of Haverhill, MA, Jo-Ann(Leschensky)Licari of Haverhill, MA, Jane and John Butler of Haverhill, MA, and Jennifer Tapia of Haverhill, MA.
A graveside memorial service will be held on March 12, 2024, at 12 PM at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 395 North Broadway, Haverhill, MA, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Ray's remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Veterans Northeast Outreach Center (VNEOC), providing a full continuum of care to Veterans in need of assistance.
