Phyllis A. (Harvey) Wood, 96, a longtime resident of Plaistow, NH, died on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Reverend John R. Wood.

Born in Maine, she was the daughter of Lester and Harriet (Jenkins) Harvey. Phyllis was raised and educated in Manchester, NH, and was a graduate of Manchester Central High School, Class of 1946.  She received a bachelor's degree from Denison University in Granville, OH, Class of 1950.  Receiving a double major in Religion and Mathematics, Phyllis said she used them both every day.

Following her studies, she was employed as a bookkeeping accountant at the American Baptist Convention of New Hampshire, through which she met her future husband.  Phyllis was a woman of strong faith and a proud minister's wife. Her devotion to the church and her family contributed greatly to the lives of those around her.

Phyllis and John were a team in all aspects of their lives. From cooking together to taking the family on road trips in their homemade camper, her fondest memories were the adventures she shared with her husband.

She enjoyed knitting, reading, completing crosswords in ink, the Red Sox and calling out the answers during Jeopardy. Phyllis was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Plaistow, NH, where her late husband was pastor from 1951 to 1968.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Pamela AW Avedisian of Lexington, MA, Joyce RW Glenney (William) of Coventry, CT, Gordon F. Wood of Bristol, RI, and Janice R. Adkins of Plaistow, NH, her five grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez, Julie Plante, Daniel Rodriguez, Kelsey Adkins, and John R. Adkins, and her great-grandchildren Isabella, Madelyn, and Dylan. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 with a collation immediately following at the First Baptist Church, 122 Main St. Plaistow, NH.
