Philip Charles Duffty, 68, of Haverhill, MA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center in Wilkesboro, NC, after experiencing a brief illness as a result of an accident while snorkeling on a vacation where he and his wife celebrated their wedding anniversary.
Philip was born on August 27, 1957, in Salisbury, England, to the late Lawrence and Mary Duffty. He attended schools in England until age 10 and then continued his education in Andover, MA. He worked doing logistics for many years, but he was a stay at home dad for much of his children's lives and continued to provide childcare for his grandchildren in more recent years.
He was loved by all, and he enjoyed meeting and connecting with people, whether in person, in his various activities, or with the online gaming community he found. One of the most special qualities about him was his passion for helping others: He would use his truck to help people move large items; deliver donations from church to a ministry in Strong, Maine; serve as an advisory board member for Rainbow - even after his daughter had aged out as a member; help set up the sanctuary each Sunday for worship, where he was active in the church community since first attending in 1976. In the so many ways he touched others lives, more than we know of or could ever list here, he will be sorely missed by all those who got to know him.
In his youth, he was a member of the Boy Scouts. In recent years, he was a member, long-time executive, and honorary steward of Ballard Vale United Church; was a Third Degree Mason of the Charles C. Dame Lodge of Freemasons and a Thirty Second Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite; and served on the advisory board for Georgetown Assembly of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.
He is survived by Evelyn Duffty, his wife of 42 wonderful years; his brother, Andrew Duffty, and Andrew’s wife, Sandra; his son, Daniel Duffty, and Daniel’s wife, Shannon; his daughter, Catherine Duffty, and Catherine’s husband, Bryan; and his four cherished grandchildren - Isaac, Ava, Simon, and Eloise.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday May 21, 2026, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home at 47 Broadway in Haverhill, MA. His funeral will be held at Ballard Vale United Church at 23 Clark Road in Andover, MA, on Friday May 22, 2026, at 10 AM. There will be a procession and burial at his final resting place at Linwood Cemetery in Haverhill, MA, to be buried alongside his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Philip’s memory can be made to Ballard Vale United Church (23 Clark Rd, Andover, MA), Georgetown Assembly #98 International of the Rainbow for Girls (16 Main Street, Georgetown, MA), or an organization of your choice.
