Obituary

Philip V. Consentino, 78, of Atkinson, NH, the longtime former Police Chief of Atkinson, died peacefully at his home on March 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Haverhill, MA on August 18, 1940, the son of the late Dr. Albert B. and Delia (Araldo) Consentino, he graduated from the former Haverhill Trade School. He moved to Atkinson, NH in 1956 and later opened the 121 Mobil Gas Station in 1960. He was employed for over thirty years as a salesman for the Sears, Roebuck and Co., in both the Haverhill and Methuen locations, until his retirement at the age of 50.  Chief Consentino joined the Atkinson Police Department in 1968 and worked his way from patrolman to lieutenant and became Chief of Police in 1978, a position he held for thirty-five years.

He was a longtime devoted public servant for the town of Atkinson, serving on the Atkinson Fire Department, as a member of the  Board of Selectman and as a member of the Atkinson Lions Club. Chief Consentino's most important accomplishment was the establishment of the Atkinson Elder Services Program, which he was associated with as Director of Elderly Affairs for over twenty-six years.  He loved old cars, his farm animals and his beloved dog, Mia and he was a gifted and popular wooden toy maker.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Joanne "Jody" (Walsh) Consentino, two sons, Philip J. Consentino and his companion, Desiree Peterson of Atkinson and Rockingham County Department of Corrections Major David L. Consentino of Atkinson; his sister, Eleanor Feuer and her husband, Martin of Atkinson, NH; five grandchildren, James, Aidan, Samantha, Peyton and Dimitri; sisters-in-law, Sr. Kathleen Walsh, SND of Lawrence, MA and Patricia Walsh of Millis, MA; a brother-in-law, John Walsh of Worcester, MA and a large family of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Gloria Consentino.
