Hampstead – Paul S. Wentworth, 86, passed away Wednesday December 13, 2023, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, NH following a period of failing health.

Born April 10, 1937, in Plaistow, NH, he was the son of the late Proctor and Ruth (Eastman) Wentworth.

Mr. Wentworth served in the US Air Force, he was stationed in Thule, Greenland. While there he served as a weatherman for the active base.

Paul met the love of his life, Priscilla A Brown (Bonnie) at her Camp on Sunset Lake in Hampstead. They were married in 1961, and were blessed with 5 children, 2 surviving to Adulthood. Son, Michael Wentworth and Daughter, Melissa B Whitney.

He later owned and operated his own General Contracting business based in Hampstead, NH. Paul built many homes and additions in his hometown as well as surrounding areas. He retired after 50 + years of successful contracting.

He was a founding member of the Hampstead Rescue Squad that was established in 1974, to enhance the capabilities of this newly formed unit Paul became a Certified EMT. Through this required skill set, Paul was able to teach and train other members of the Squad. Thus, enhancing the overall competencies and capabilities in order to provide the much-needed services to the town. He was also an active Volunteer Member of the Hampstead Fire Department, serving as Chief 3 times during his 40 years of service. He also gave of his time being a member of the Hampstead Lions Club.

In his younger years Paul was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing golf, tennis, swimming, water skiing, winter skiing, basketball and a good game of "Kick the Can". He would often be found playing these sports with his children and many of their friends after a hard day's work! His nickname known to many of his Childrens Friends was "Big Kid". He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many leadership positions, but his favorite was teaching the Youth Sunday School Classes. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ as his Savior and strived to always serve others.

Members of his family include his children Michael Wentworth and wife Kerry of Exeter, NH; and Melissa Whitney and husband James of Hampstead, NH; six grandchildren; Arielle, Andrew, Chelsie, Jacob, Ashley, and Katie, four great grandchildren; Riley, Preslee, Owen, and Hadley, two brothers Proctor Wentworth, Jr. of Hampstead, NH; and David Wentworth of WI; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife P. Bonnie (Brown) Wentworth, and two siblings Richard Wentworth, and Joyce Thibault.

A Private Family Graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 19th, with a Celebration of Life Service held on January 6, 2024, 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 50 Adams Pond Road, Derry, NH.
