Obituary

Plaistow, NH: Paul Alfred Wagstaff, 81, and formerly of Attleboro, Massachusetts, died peacefully in his sleep on August 25, 2024, in Plaistow, surrounded by his loving family who cared for him during his brief illness.

Born in Attleboro on August 30, 1942, Paul was the son of the late James H. and Celia (Menard) Wagstaff and attended local schools. He became deaf at the age of seventeen, and despite his handicap, he graduated from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C with his degree in Liberal Arts. With a specialty in Economics, he was employed by the U.S. Government in Detroit, Michigan for several years, and later excelled at other jobs, where he made many great friends.

Paul was a gentleman of great strength and character with a kind and gentle heart that touched the lives of anybody who knew him. He cherished the time that he spent with family and friends. Birthdays were especially important, always asking family when and where the party would be held. He was sure to arrive with a cake, cards and scratch tickets for all. His favorite trips were to casinos with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, James H. and Rosemarie Wagstaff, late of Plaistow. He is survived by three nieces and their families, Sandra Silviera, of Plaistow, Tammy Hawkes of Eliot, ME, and Pamela Douglas of Chester, NH and several cousins and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Paul's Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk, MA.
