Newburyport: Paul D. Lamb, Jr., 75, a resident of Newburyport for the past six years and a former resident of North Hampton, NH and Plaistow, NH, died peacefully on October 7, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Exeter, NH, son of the late Paul and Louise (Yeaton) Lamb, he was raised and educated in Melrose. He was a member of the Melrose High School Class of 1963, where he lettered in Varsity Football and Baseball and later served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1965 until 1971.
For the past fifty two years, Paul has been employed at Eastern Salt of Chelsea, and for several years as the Terminal Manager. He also shared his knowledge as a crane instructor with several students over the years.
A devoted family man and avid New England Patriots fan, Paul supported his son Paul, III in his motor cross career as his mechanic, receiving the designation as "Mechanic of the Year" at one point. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling across the United States as well as enjoying worldwide trips. He was a positive inspiration to his family and his favorite response for most situations was "Great", and devoted much of his time supporting charities as a volunteer in the greater Chelsea community.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of fifty-one years, Phyllis (Sheehan) Lamb, a son Paul D. Lamb, III of Haverhill, two daughters and sons-in-law, Nicole R. and Michael Laperriere of West Newbury, and Julie A. and Joshua Davis of Moncks Corner, SC, a brother Scott Lamb of Standish, ME, two sisters, Robin Higgins of Melrose and Leslie Rourke of California, grandchildren, Tayla, Brooke, Savanah, Jillian, Austin, Adam and Brett, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher P. Lamb and his brother, Craig Lamb.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, following the NH guidelines for social distancing and wearing masks. His funeral will take place on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial with military honors in Plaistow Cemetery. Donations in Paul's name may be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W est Wacker Dr., Chicago, Ill.
