Haverhill: Paul J. Dodier, 85, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died December 13, 2012 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Son of the late Levis and Alma (Dodier) Dodier, he attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and was a member of the Haverhill Trade School Class of 1944. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during W.W. ll.
Mr. Dodier was first employed at McGirr Sheet Metal Co., and Craig Systems and later Cargo Care Engineering of Amesbury and worked also as a substitute teacher. He earned his teaching certificate and was employed as a sheet metal and welding instructor at Nashoba Valley Regional Technical High School from 1971 until his retirement in 1986.
Mr. Dodier was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and enjoyed fishing and intarsia with some of his work displayed in local churches and chapels.
He is survived by his wife Shirley L. (Kennedy) Dodier, a son and daughter-in-law, Paul R. and Sybil Dodier of East Hampstead, a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela A. and John Ohmann of Wasilla, Alaska, two brothers, George Dodier and Robert Dodier of Florida, three sisters, Mildred Day of Haverhill, Corinne Guevin, of Atkinson, NH, and Alma Blinn of Haverhill, three grandchildren, Sara Dodier, Anne Ohmann and John Paul Ohmann and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A private family graveside service will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to any local veterans - organization.
