Atkinson: Patricia A. Zakiewicz, 85, a resident of Atkinson for the past twenty-eight years, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and the daughter of the late Stanley and Antonia (Mickiewicz) Zakiewicz, she was a member of the Lawrence High School Class of 1953. For thirty-nine years, Ms. Zakiewicz was employed as a secretary and administrative assistant at Western Electric Co. and Bell Labs in North Andover, MA, retiring in 1995, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
A longtime and active member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish and Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, and member of the Women's Guild and the Prayer Shawl Knitting Group. She was also a volunteer at the parish food pantry. She recently received a Presidential Award for her many years of service to her parish and her community.
Ms. Zakiewicz enjoyed cross country skiing in her younger years, as well as bowling and traveling across the United States and Europe. She also was an avid reader and turned to audio books in her later years.
The last surviving member of her family of seven children, she was predeceased by her siblings, Mary, Josephine, Stanley, Joseph and twins Ann and Benjamin.
Ms Zakiewicz will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews, especially her niece and caretaker, Talia Gianelli and her husband Peter and their children Lola and Elijah of Nashua, NH.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday morning, October 21, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH and followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Rd. Plaistow. Burial will take place immediately afterwards at St. Mary's/ Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Luke the Evangelist Parish.
