IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia E.
Lavin
January 2, 1943 – September 19, 2023
Gilford, NH: Patricia E. (Brouillard) Lavin, 80, of Gilford, NH and Naples, Florida, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at her home in Gilford, following a courageous battle with heart disease.
Born in Haverhill, MA, daughter of the late Camille and Mary Phyllis (Sullivan) Brouillard, she attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and was a member of the Saint James High School Class of 1960. Pat went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rivier College, and later, her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Lowell, as well as her certificate of Advanced Studies in Psychology.
Pat was first employed as a fifth-grade teacher in the Hampstead, NH School District and later in the Groveland School System. From 1974 until her retirement in 2001, she worked as a special needs educator at Whittier Regional Vocational and Technical High School in Haverhill. A well-respected educator, her colleagues awarded her the Whittier Regional Education Association's 2001 "Educator of the Year Award" saying "Patricia was full of kindness, compassion and a willingness to help others." She was inducted into Delta Kappa Gamma, the international honor society for women educators.
A resident of West Newbury, Massachusetts for many years, Pat was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph Parish. She was active in volunteering for Saint Joseph School and gave her time to the American Cancer Society, with a special interest in working with newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. She was also a member of the Ace of Clubs, a Boston philanthropic organization founded by the late Rose Kennedy.
A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and proud grandmother to her four grandchildren, Pat enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and excelled in creating a warm and inviting home for her husband and daughter. An accomplished cook, she was an exceptional host to her many friends and extended family members. Pat enjoyed spending summers at her home in Gilford, NH, and following her retirement, spending winters at her home in Naples, Florida and always looked forward to traveling and dancing with the love of her life, Jack.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted and loving husband of fifty-seven years, John T. "Jack" Lavin, a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Tyler Wolfram, of Riverside, CT., a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas D. and Mary Beth Brouillard of Vernon, CT, four grandchildren, Alexis, Greyson, Jackson and Peyton, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
