Newton, NH: Norman L. Page, 89, a native and lifelong resident of Newton, died April 8, 2020 at Exeter Hospital. He was the son of the late William and Rose (Sorel) Page and attended local schools, graduating from the former Sanborn Seminary in 1948.
Mr. Page served in the U.S. Army from 1949 until 1952 during the Korean War and as part of the Army of Occupation in Germany. He was honorably discharged and was a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He went on to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve until 1962.
Mr. Page was skilled in many areas of the trades and was a man of many talents. He lived in the house that he built in Newton and could easily build a boat or a race car, and could carve beautiful wooden bowls, whales or duck decoys .
He first worked as a carpenter building homes, and later as a mechanic at Skelly Motors in Haverhill, before working at Western Electric Co. At the time of his retirement in 1990, Mr. Page had been employed for many years as a test analyst in Missile Quality Control at Raytheon. Mr. Page also owned and operated "Page's Mink Farm" for many years.
A longtime NASCAR fan, Mr. Page raced stock cars in the 1950's with U.R.D.C. Pines and Hudson Speedways, and at other local racetracks with the number "711" on his vehicles and as late as 1990 was racing dwarf cars with the number "3". An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed, trapping, fishing, hunting and tuna fishing and raising mink.
He was predeceased in 1992 by his first wife of forty-one years, Jeannette (Cheney) Page, and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of seventeen years, Sandra (Goad) (Bisson) Page , two sons, Michael Page and his wife Linda of Newton, and Jeffrey Page and his wife Joyce of East Kingston, three step daughters, Cheryl Bisson of Haverhill, MA, Janice Cavan of Alexander, Maine, and Penny Bisson of Raymond, a daughter-in-law Elizabeth Bisson, of Haverhill, and wife of his late step-son, Keith Bisson, two brothers, Roland Page and his wife Frannie of Amesbury, MA, and Carl Page of Inverness, FL, two grandchildren Shawn Page and his wife Nicole of Raymond, and Shelby Porter and her husband Chris of Raymond, step-grandchildren, Brian Lash and his wife Meghan of Norton, MA, and Greg Lash of Rockledge, FL, great grandchildren, Jeffrey Michael Page and Elizabeth Page Lash, and step grandchildren Joelene Quatrano, Michael Bisson, Joshua Bisson, Sabrina LaCrosse, and Christopher Cavan, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Edward Page, Rita Chase, Richard Page and Francis Page.
