Obituary

Norma L. (Fransen) Mitchell, 88, of Atkinson, New Hampshire, passed away on Wednesday September 2, 2026, at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Norma was the daughter of the late Einar and Dorothy (Cardarelli) Fransen and grew up with her three siblings in North Reading, Massachusetts. Norma was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School, in Reading, Massachusetts, Class of 1956.

Norma had a heart for caregiving throughout her life. She cared for her family, worked as an Operating Room Tech and was just months from completing nursing school when her first husband fell ill, leading her to devote herself to caring for him and their family. Together, she and her late husband built and ran Mitchell Security, Inc., working side by side until their retirement. Above all, Norma cherished time spent cooking and baking for and with her family, she treasured every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.

Norma will be sadly missed but forever loved by her only son, David Margeson of Atkinson, New Hampshire, brothers, Mark Fransen and his wife, Laura of North Reading, Neil “Butch” Fransen of North Reading, grandchildren, Jamey Chenault and Jennifer Aviles of Atkinson, three great grandchildren, Kayla Chenault, Michael Chenault, and Anthony Manna, and one great, great grandchild, Romen Manna. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Norma was predeceased by her husbands, William L. Margeson and William J. Mitchell, Jr., sister, Sandra Richards, and great grandchild, Isabell Castro.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Calling Hours for Norma on Wednesday September 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, New Hampshire.
