Nicole O. (Lussier) Paine, 79, a resident of East Hampstead, NH, died on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael H. Paine to whom she was married for 47 years.
She was born in Richelieu, Quebec, Canada on December 8, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Auguste and Therese (Beaudry) Lussier. Moving to a dairy farm in St. Albans, VT in 1952, she initially attended elementary school unable to speak any English. She received her high school diploma from Holy Angels School in St. Albans.
Nicole, or Nicky, lived the life of a military spouse, residing in Vermont, Maryland, Hawaii, Maine and, ultimately, New Hampshire. In her earlier years she worked as a bartender in VT and HI, then spent 30+ years working in various administrative positions in NAF for the Department of Defense, Walsh Brothers Movers, Wheelabrator Technologies, and Portsmouth Paper. She ultimately retired from Stantec Engineering.
Nicky was an avid gardener, spending countless hours on her plants and flowers in the yard. She also enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, needlepointing, making dolls, and baking. Later in life, she and Mike enjoyed hosting international students for several years and traveling in the U.S. and abroad. Nicky also stayed very busy in retirement, joining the garden club, serving as Treasurer for her community's social group, volunteering for church fairs, and spending time with her family.
Nicole is survived by her son Kevin Paine and his wife Bridget (Douglas) of Fremont, NH, granddaughter Gabrielle Paine, grandson Carter Paine, brother Jacques Lussier and his wife Marcelle (Reed) of Swanton, VT, brother Michel Lussier of St. Albans, VT, sister Micheline Goodno and her husband Earle of Hollis, NH, sister Claire Rainville and her husband Roger of Alburgh, VT.
She is pre-deceased by her sister Jacqueline Tetreault and her husband Albert, brother Real Lussier, and sister Estelle Quintin and her husband John.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 4pm – 7pm at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 10:30am at St. Anne Parish 26 Emerson Ave. Hampstead, NH. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flower donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
