Andover, MA: Nancy B. (Cormier) Demmer, age 79, of Andover and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, MA, died on October 9, 2017 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, daughter of the late Raymond and Beulah (Blinn) Cormier, she attended St. Joseph School, the Tilton School, and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1955. Mrs. Demmer went on to attend Merrimack College and received her Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Northern Essex Community College.
Mrs. Demmer was employed as a Respiratory Therapist at the Hale Hospital in Haverhill for nineteen years. She also owned and operated antique and consignment businesses in Newburyport, MA and Portsmouth, NH.
A member of All Saints Parish and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Demmer enjoyed gardening, antique shopping, cooking, and baking. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and playing tennis. She treasured her family most of all. She always looked forward to her favorite time of the year, the Christmas Season. She was a loving mom and great friend for those that had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her. Nancy had been struggling with Alzheimer's for many years. A disease that for Nancy and her family was made more painful for a person with so much vitality, warmth and vigor for what should have been life's reward after retirement. She had a beautiful mind and a more beautiful personality.
She is survived by two sons, Bryan Demmer and his wife Renee of Rochelle, VA, Kurt Demmer and his wife Taunya of Salem, NH, ; three daughters, Gretchen Doumit of Haverhill, Erika Consentino of Nashua, NH, and Krista McMahon and her husband Joseph of Lowell ; her former husband, John Demmer ; a sister, Cheryl Merrill of Newburyport, MA, twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday October 12, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will begin on Friday, October 13 at 11a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill.
