Amesbury, MA: Mildred E. (Rogers) Grover, 86, of Amesbury and former longtime resident of Haverhill and also formerly of Merrimac, died on February 25, 2014 at Seaview Retreat in Rowley.
Born in Haverhill, MA, and raised in Plaistow, NH, daughter of the late John and Milicent (Packer) Rogers, she attended the Pollard School and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1941.
Mrs. Grover worked in the local shoe industry as a young woman. She then attended a local Nursing School and worked as a licensed practical nurse at Oxford Manor Nursing Home and Lenox Manor Nursing Home.
She enjoyed bowling and was a member of several local league. She also baked wedding cakes for local brides for many years and was very devoted to her family.
She was the former wife of Roscoe F. Jenkins and was predeceased by her husband Kedrick Grover and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roscoe F. "Bucky" Jenkins, Jr. and Sandra Jenkins of Haverhill, daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Christos Christopher of Danville, NH, and Barbara and Keith DeRusha of Dover, NH, four grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Baker, Jeremy Jenkins, Benjamin Jenkins, and Kirk DeRusha, three great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, John, Norman, and Jeff Rogers and her sisters, Dorothy, Helen, Alice, and Shirley.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.
