Haverhill, MA:Michael M. Tavitian, 76, a former Plaistow resident for over twenty-five years, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Haverhill, son of the late Marderos and Esther (Varabedian) Tavitian, he attended local schools and was a 1954 graduate of Haverhill Trade School where he was a member of the football team.
Mr. Tavitian was a pressman for the Haverhill Gazzette, and also worked in the maintenance department at Haverhill Paperboard before his retirement at the age of
sixty-one.
He was a member of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church in Haverhill where he was a member of the church choir in his younger years.He was an avid sports fan, especially of football and the New England Patriots.He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law Martin B. and Kristy Tavitian of North Hampton, NH; one daughter and son-in-law Naomi and David Merrill of Enfield, CT; one brother Simon Tavitian of Medford, MA; six grandchildren Conner Tavitian, Catheryn Bisbee, Emma Merrill, Aubrey Merrill, Charlie Merrill, Dawson Merrill; and several cousins.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Rte. 121A, Plaistow, NH.His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Funeral Service at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church, 110 Main Street, Haverhill, MA at 10:00 a.m.Burial will follow in Plaistow Cemetery.
