Mahoney
November 1, 1959 – December 7, 2021
Hampstead, NH: Michael Mahoney, 62, of Hampstead, NH and formerly of Salem, NH and a long-time resident of Groveland, MA, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2021.
Born in Lynn, MA, he was the son of Josephine (Garofalo) Mahoney and the late John Mahoney. Michael was raised and educated in Lynn and attended Lynn Vocational and Technical Institute and Wentworth Institute. He proudly belonged to Local 17 in Dorchester, MA starting as a sheet metal worker, then foreman, then CAD designer for multiple trades. He worked on many Boston hospitals, universities, and sky scrapers. When he retired in 2013, he helped found Arete Rehabilitation, Inc. in Salem, NH, with his wife, becoming President, ardent supporter and a beloved member of his company's team.
Michael loved woodworking and made many heartfelt gifts for family and friends. He loved Aruba, the Pat's, steel drums, anything comedy, his dog Max, tropical heat, driving everywhere and his extended family. His sense of humor was quick and silly and is one of the many things that will be sorely missed.
Michael will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet L. (Milot) Mahoney; two sons, Michael L. Mahoney and his partner, Genevieve Guerrero of Huntington Beach, CA and Jeffrey T. Little of Amesbury, MA; three daughters, Kerri L. Mahoney and her partner, A. J. Mitchum of Goffstown, NH; Kaitlyn R. Little and her partner, Jackson Falby of Charlestown, MA and Micaela M. Little of Amesbury, MA; his mother, Josephine (Garofalo) Mahoney of Lynn, MA; a brother, Johnny Mahoney and his wife, Candy of Ozello, FL; two sisters, Diane Nocella and her husband, James of Merrimack, NH and Joanne Mahoney Speropolous and her husband, Chuck of Lynn, MA; two grandchildren, Melanie Mitchum and James Mahoney; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private family services will be held at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
