Obituary

Haverhill: Maurice S. Chevalier, 88, of Haverhill and formerly of Merrimac, died April 29, 2020 at Penacook Place in Haverhill.

Born in Lowell, son of the late Louis and Marie (Pelletier) Chevalier, he was raised and educated in Haverhill and attended the former Haverhill Trade School. He served honorably as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Chevalier was employed for twenty years as a machinist at Bolton Emerson Co. of Lawrence and later was employed at Foss Mfg. Inc. retiring as the production manager in 1990.

A resident of Merrimac from 1956 until 2016, he was a member of the Merrimac Lions Club and the American Legion, and enjoyed golfing and gardening.

Predeceased in 2014 by his wife of fifty-nine years, Lorraine (Constantine) Chevalier, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a son, Stephen T. Chevalier and his wife, Joanne of Salem, NH, two daughters, Sally A. Chevalier and Jayne M. Wallner, both of Santa Cruz, CA, a sister, Theresa Sturk of Haverhill, five grandchildren, Lauren Strob and her husband, Eric, Nicole Chevalier and Angie Struzik and her husband, Jon, all of Salem, NH, and Matthew Wallner and his wife, Rachael and Peter Wallner and his fiancé, Alexandra, of California, five great-grandchildren, Kelley, Katie, Boston, and Bella Strob, and Mila Struzik, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a grandson, Ryan Sawyer, two sisters, Simone Carignan and Cecile Mazza, and four brothers, Gerard Chevalier, Roland Chevalier, Raymond Chevalier, and Robert Chevalier.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service to be held on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 10 AM in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hilldale Ave., Haverhill, MA.  Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
