Haverhill: Maureen C. (Grant) Dawkins, 83, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died peacefully on Thursday, November 27, at Aspen Hill Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Haverhill. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Catherine (Denney) Grant and was a member of the Saint James High School Class of 1960.
A resident of the Bradford section of Haverhill for many years, Maureen first worked as an administrative assistant at Bixby Box Toe Co. and later in the Admitting Office at the Hale Hospital Emergency Room and Operating Room until her retirement. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Maureen volunteered as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and was active as a fundraiser for the former Saint Joseph Grammar School where her four children attended grade school.
In her later years, Maureen and her husband, Frank spent winters in Naples, Florida from 1996 until 2017. Both avid Red Sox fans, they worked for several seasons at the Red Sox winter home at Jet Blue Park. They also enjoyed several trips with family to Disney World. Maureen also never turned down an opportunity to go shopping with family and friends.
Predeceased in 2022 by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Frank P. Dawkins, Jr. she is survived by a son Stephen Dawkins of Hyannis, MA, two daughters and sons-in-law, Cyndi and Michael Casey of East Falmouth, MA, and Jody and Steven Cicchese of Onset, MA, a son-in-law and his wife Ronald and Patti Lavigne, of Port Charlotte, FL, a brother Daniel W. "Bud" Grant, Jr. of Atkinson, NH, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and John Murphy of Haverhill, Linda and Robert Murphy of Long Beach CA, and Sharon and John Maloney of Haverhill, ten grandchildren, Catherine, Cameron and his wife Mary Katherine, Patrick and his wife Nicole, Alec, Brett, Brendan and his wife Caitlan, Jessica and her husband Garrett, Erin, Shauna and Shannon, three great-grandchildren, Allison, Kaleb and Kole, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Maureen was also predeceased by her daughter, Colleen "Kelly" Lavigne in 2000, her grandson, Lyndon in 2018, her brother, David F. Grant in 2005, her sister, Marianne Dow in 2021 and her sister-in-law Carol Grant.
Relatives and friends are invited to Maureen's Funeral service to be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main ST., Plaistow, NH and followed by burial in Saint James Cemetery.
