Haverhill, MA:  Matthew D. Johnson, 54, of Haverhill, died on April 3, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late Gardner and Joanne (Cranton) Johnson, Sr.  He was raised and educated in Plaistow, NH attending Pollard School and Timberlane Regional High School.  He worked as an Equipment Operator for Covanta Energy and for Plaistow Distributors and Fabricators, Inc. (PDF), Haverhill.

A former member of the Haverhill Lodge of Elks, Mr. Johnson was an avid Patriots and Bruins fan and outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping with his family at  Province Lake in East Wakefield, NH, relaxing by his fire pit,  playing darts and building and racing radio controlled cars.   He also enjoyed spending time with his children, his granddaughter, Tatum and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Kathy (Meisner) Johnson; a son, Jeffrey W. Johnson of Bradford, MA; three daughters, Vanessa L. Torres and her husband, Nicholas of Amesbury, MA, Ashley N. Johnson of Haverhill, MA and Natasha L. Johnson of Haverhill, MA; five brothers, Gardner Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Danville, NH, Thomas Johnson and his wife, Suzy of Kingston, NH, Stephen Johnson and his wife, Marie of Raymond, NH, Richard Johnson and his girlfriend, Bonnie of Haverhill, MA, and Gregory Johnson of Haverhill, MA; a sister, Terry Moulton and her husband, William of Plaistow, NH; a granddaughter, Tatum Torres and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by a sister, Jaqueline Johnson and brothers, Jeffrey Johnson and Ralph Johnson.

Relatives and friends may attend Matthew's Life Celebration on Sunday, April 8, 2018, from 2 to 6 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.  His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 11 AM in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Matthew Johnson Memorial Fund, c/o the Johnson family.  For directions or to send a message of condolence, please visit our website at www.brooksidechapelfh.com
