Haverhill: Mary A. (Sumski) Lesiczka, 97, of Haverhill, died September 7, 2017 at Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.
Born in Lawrence, daughter of the late William and Michalina (Kozlowski) Szumski, she attended local schools and Lawrence High School. She was employed as a young woman in the Lawrence Textile Mills.
A resident of Haverhill most of her life, Mrs. Lesiczka was employed for many years as a tester at Western Electric, A T & T Technologies and Lucent Technologies. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of the Communication Workers of America and the WE-Valley Club.
A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Michael's Parish, Mrs. Lesiczka most recently attended Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish at Holy Angels Church. She enjoyed Polka dancing, flower gardening, playing 45's, crocheting and knitting. She knitted many hats, pairs of mittens, blankets and baby sets that she donated through the Telephone Pioneers.
Predeceased by her husband Stanley W. Lesiczka in 1992, and her son Richard J. Lesiczka in 2016, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Joanne M. Carbone of Atkinson, NH, a daughter-in-law, Mary Lesiczka of Haverhill, a brother and sister-in-law Edward and Theresa Sumski of Vernon CT, five grandchildren, Christine Carbone and her partner Lou Clark, Steven Carbone, Andrea (Carbone ) Comeau and her husband Michael, Kathryn (Lesiczka) Wolman and her husband Daniel, and Matthew Lesiczka and his wife Christa, seven great-grandchildren, Erik, Drew, Colin, Nicholas, Hannah, Joshua and Annora, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Lesiczka's Life Celebration to be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Tuesday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. in Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Plaistow. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Food Pantry of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Rd, Plaistow.
