Stauffer
November 28, 1941 – July 8, 2025
Meredith, NH; Mary V. (Abate) (Healey) Stauffer, 83, a former longtime resident of Plaistow, and formerly of North Andover, MA, died July 8, 2025, at Golden View Healthcare Center in Meredith.
Born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Albina (Cronin) Abate and attended St. Lawrence O'Toole Grammar School and Lawrence High School. As a young woman, Mary was employed at Western Electric Co. in North Andover, MA. She took time out from work to raise her family before returning to the workforce as a pediatric nurse scheduler at Merrimack Valley VNA.
A resident of Plaistow, NH for thirty-eight years, Mary was a longtime member of Holy Angels Parish and the Plaistow Lionesses. She served as a committee member and fundraiser for the monuments erected on the town green honoring service men and women of the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War and the Gulf War. She also was a committee member of the Town of Plaistow 225th Anniversary Celebration. Later, as a resident of North Andover for ten years, she was an active member of Saint Michael's Parish.
Mary enjoyed traveling and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She excelled at creating a warm and loving home for her family as well as welcoming and entertaining extended family, friends and neighbors in her home. Moving to Norton, MA in 2014, Mary was a volunteer at the Norton Senior Center.
Predeceased in 1976 by her first husband Daniel F. Healey and in 2012 by her second husband, Dale C. Stauffer, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a daughter, Maureen A. (Healey) Cantwell and her husband Christopher, of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH, a son Timothy J. Healey and his wife Cara of Buzzards Bay, MA, daughters, Judene M (Stauffer) Pare of Lowell, MA, Darlene J. Stauffer of Tyngsboro, MA, Lisa A. (Stauffer) Baker and her husband Daniel of Methuen, MA, Roxane M. (Stauffer) Larrabee and her husband Chuck of Sandown, NH, and Christine D. (Stauffer) Haradon and her husband Mark of Gilmanton, NH; eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Devon, Hunter, Cameron, Jeffrey, Melissa, Ross, Brad, Anmarie and Danielle; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Frank, Daniel, Thomas, and Joseph and sisters Anne and Shirley.
The family would like to thank the medical staffs and employees of Golden View Healthcare Center and Compassus Hospice, for the care and comfort they provided to Mary during her final illness and the support extended to her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours to be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Friday morning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, NH. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Golden View Healthcare Center, 19 NH Route 104, Meredith, NH or to Compassus Hospice, 2 Bedford Turnpike, Suite 201, Bedford, NH.
