Obituary

Plaistow, NH: Mary Rose (Scionti) Soriano, 66, a resident of Plaistow for the past three years, died Monday morning, October 31, 2022 at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston.

Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Rocco J. and Irene (Dery) Scionti, she was a member of the Saint Mary's High School Class of 1974 and attended Saint Mary's Church in Lawrence.

She later received her certificate in cosmetology and hairdressing from Greater Lawrence Regional Vocational and Technical High School, and was a self-employed hairdresser for many years. She also worked for twenty years as an advocate in the Lowell Office of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance, until retiring five years ago.

Mary Rose always enjoyed spending time with her many friends and dining out at her favorite restaurants near the ocean in Newburyport and Hampton Beach. She also enjoyed her Bible Study group and her once a month meetings with her childhood friends, exchanging memories and creating Diamond Art. Accomplished at needlepoint and crewel, she also spent many hours shopping for antiques, that she repaired, restored, and resold. A devoted grandmother, Mary Rose especially enjoyed the quality time that she spent with her grandson, Gabriel.

Predeceased in 2021 by her husband of twelve years, Walter Soriano, and in 2010 by her son Chase I. Abreu, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Domenic Abreu of Plaistow, a brother Victor T. Scionti of Methuen, a brother and sister-in-law, Jason A. and Michelle Dery of Hampstead, a sister and brother-in-law, Anna L. and Richard Colmer of Plaistow, her grandson Gabriel Abreu, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and her special canine companion, "Dustin".

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
