Obituary

Haverhill, MA: Mary J. (Secorsky) Lesiczka, 92, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on September 21, 2019, at Wingate of Haverhill.

Born and raised in Peabody, MA, she was the daughter of Polish immigrants; the late Walter and Hedwig (Szybiak) Secorsky. She left high school to work for Sylvania for 7 years to help support her family.

Mary was an inspirational, hard-working and comical lady who was loved by all. She met the love of her life; Peter, who she was married to for 53 years, at a Polish polka dance. Peter won her heart enough to have her move to the country-side in Haverhill without the modernization of city life. Mary quickly realized that to be married to a dairy farmer, she would have to supplement their income and worked 35 years for AT&T/Lucent as a coil winder. She was a very motivated and determined woman being the first woman in the family to get her driver's license on a standard shift, no less! Mary contributed to modernizing the Lesiczka Family Farm by purchasing a kitchen gas stove, washing machine and farm equipment. She loved to help her son Wally, of Wally's Vegetables, picking bushels of beans and quarts of strawberries for many years after her retirement.

Her labor of love was knitting and crocheting many handmade afghans, sweaters, hats and dolls for all her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo and going on bus trips with her son, Wally. She always had everyone in stitches with her sense of humor and she was an avid Red Sox fan who never missed watching a game.

Mary lived her life for her family and instilled in them the importance of being together. She was always available to babysit her grandchildren and enjoyed going to all their sporting events. She was a beloved "Babci" cooking golumpki (stuffed cabbage), homemade chicken soup and her special spaghetti sauce. She loved to sing Polish songs to her cherished great-granddaughter Cynthia who brought special joy to Babci's life.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two sons, Walter P. Lesiczka, and his wife Stephanie of Haverhill, David R. Lesiczka, and his wife Jonie of Haverhill, daughter Bonnie Mansfield, and her husband Daniel of Haverhill, brother Henry Secorsky of Raymond, NH, sister Theresa O'Brien of Haverhill, grandchildren David Lesiczka, Jr., and his wife Lindsay, Andrew Lesiczka, and his wife Rachel, Christine Lesiczka, Paige Channell, Peter Lesiczka, Stephen Lesiczka, Heather Mansfield, and Nathan Mansfield, great grandchildren Evan, Lizzie, and Cynthia. Predeceased by her husband Peter G. Lesiczka and her brother Louis Secorsky.

Relatives and friends are invited to Mary's Life Celebration on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
