Mary (Overfield) Santos, age 74, of Salem, NH, passed on peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA, after a courageous six month battle with the effects of kidney transplant failure.
Born in the Chicago, IL area, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Eleanor (Trenholm) Overfield.She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Chicago and her MBA from Boston University. Mrs. Santos also graduated from the General Electric Financial Management Program and completed a career in computers and financial analysis.
She was a former active member of the Symphony NH Chorus, Nashua.She enjoyed skiing and all of the arts, theater and concert opportunities available in the Boston area.She enjoyed boating and lake activities at her summer home in Delta, Ontario with her lake family, and was an enthusiastic reader and amateur artist.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Don Santos, two sons, Brian Jeffries and his wife, Lynne of Plaistow, NH, and Ken Jeffries and his life partner, Jacqueline Baker of Groton, MA, two stepsons, Scott Santos and his wife, Cynthia of Indianapolis, IN and Todd Santos and his wife, Judy of Liverpool, NY, and she was grandma to many grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Denise Jeffries.
She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, September 24, 2012, from 10 - 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 346 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM at the church followed by a reception in the church hall.Burial will take place at a later date in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill, MA.A memorial is planned early next summer at her island home.
