Obituary

Plaistow, NH:  Mary Lou (Wyeth) Poirier, 60, a resident of Plaistow since 1992, died Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Exeter Hospital from complications after suffering a cardiac event while kayaking Saturday at Kingston Lake.

Born in Amesbury, Massachusetts, daughter of the late John J. and Marilyn (Lyon) Wyeth, she was raised in Exeter, NH and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Saint Johnsbury, VT in 1979.

Mary Lou was presently working as the Executive Assistant to the President and Board of Directors of Edgewood Retirement Community of North Andover, also serving as the Director of Life Enrichment at the facility. Her previous work included fifteen years as the Executive Assistant to the President and Board of Directors of School Year Abroad. In addition, she worked with Dr. Mary Pearson at the New Creation Healing Center in Kingston, NH, and was the secretary of the Haverhill Christian and Missionary Alliance Church on Kenoza Ave.

Mary Lou led a life of service to others through her work career, volunteering at church and anywhere else a need could be met. She was widely respected for her advice to others and was recognized as a creative, resourceful, and independent woman. She gained great strength and wisdom from her knowledge of the Bible and her faith in God. She often used her ability to recollect scripture when witnessing to and advising others. In the love language she spoke most fluently, her final act of service was the giving of her organs to bless those in need.

She craved to experience God's creation to the fullest. Her travels led her to Ireland, Italy, Israel, and the island of Jamaica. Her passions included playing piano and cello, tap dancing, horseback riding, kayaking, hiking, and taking part in her Bible study group. She adored spending time with her grandchildren; they loved her energy and creative spirit.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband David A.M. Poirier, two sons, Christian E. Simpson and his wife Jennifer of Rochester, NH and Jacob D. Poirier of Atkinson, a daughter Jacquelynne W. Barrett and her husband Jeffrey of Derry, NH; two brothers, John H. Wyeth of Dover, NH and Keith L. Wyeth of Kittery Point, ME; five grandchildren, Wesley, William and Audrey Barrett and Cora and Christian Simpson and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary Lou's Life Celebration to be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
