Haverhill: Mary Rose (Chartier) Kane, 77, of Sandown, NH passed peacefully at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Ward Hill, Bradford on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Born in Methuen, the daughter of the late Roland and Helen (Dufresne) Chartier, she attended Haverhill High School Class of 1965. She went on to graduate from North Essex Community College with an associate's degree in Mental Health, Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor's in human services and later obtained a master's in psychology from the University of New Hampshire. Mary had a long career as a case manager with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. She was a counselor at Emmaus Family Shelter in Haverhill for many years and helped many in the drug and alcohol court order for women.
Mary was very active in several local clubs such as Friends of the Sandown Public Library, Lions Club and the 60 Plus Sandown Group. Family was most important to her, as she cherished holidays, particularly Christmas, their annual Angle Pond 4th of July cookouts and family traditions including traveling to North Conway and creating special memories with her grandchildren. Her home was always open to family and friends, she loved hosting a good party. Mary and her husband Raymond were married for 59 years. They enjoyed and loved living on Angle Pond in Sandown for 33 years.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Raymond R. Kane Sr. of Sandown, NH; sons Raymond R. Kane Jr. & his wife Sheila of Ward Hill, MA and Jason R. Kane and his fiancé Tamara LaPosta of Danville, NH; daughter Candice L. Page and her husband Donald of Hampstead, NH; adopted children Cameron R. King and Emma Rose Frazier both of Sandown, NH; brothers Joseph Chartier of Stanwood, WA; sisters Theresa Chartier of Wheeling, WV, Cathy Spaulding and her partner Skeeter Rouse of Merrimac, MA, Sharon Smithey and her husband Tony of Salem, NH; grandchildren Lucas and his wife Jordan, Kendra and her husband Daniel, Lacey, Jacob and Shea. She was predeceased by brothers Ronald and Richard Chartier and a sister Sandra Doucette.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mary's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin at 12:15 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
