Newton, NH: Mary A. (Maxwell) (Deary) Dion, 82, a longtime resident of Newton, died August 13, 2021 at Exeter Hospital, following an extended illness.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Richard Ryan and Catherine (Reagan) (Ryan) (Maxwell) and the adopted daughter of the late Kenneth Maxwell. Raised and educated in Boston, she attended Boston Catholic Schools and graduated from Archbishop Cushing High School.

Mrs. Dion was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the Oxfords Manor in Haverhill, MA and later as a cashier at Bayberry Variety Store on Route 125 in Kingston and finally at Route 108 General Store in Newton.

A former member of the Newton Junction Baptist Church and the Ladies Aid Society, she was presently a member of the First Baptist Church of Brentwood. An avid reader, she enjoyed Bible studies and completing crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Dion was predeceased in 1981 by her first husband, James P. Deary, Jr. and by her second husband Paul J. Dion in 2005. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karen A. Deary of Newton, NH, a son and daughter -in-law, Kevin M. and Jean Deary of Indiana, five grandchildren, Ethan R. Collins, Sarah L. Collins, Phillip Deary, Erik Deary and Kelly Beth Julian, four great-grandchildren and several friends and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on August 20, 2021, Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will begin in the funeral home chapel at 11:15 and will be followed by burial in Highland Cemetery, Newton.
