Haverhill, MA: Mary A. (Cashman) Custeau, 86, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died on January 15, 2016 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, daughter of the late Howard and Alice
(Bouchard) Cashman, she graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1947. Mrs. Custeau went on to graduate from Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in 1949.

Mrs. Custeau was employed as a secretary for the Bradford College Alumni Relations and Development Office for twenty-four years. She had also been employed as a secretary for the Weidner Library at Harvard University for five years and as a secretary for Attorney Nathan Robbinson's Office.

A member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Haverhill, Mrs. Custeau served on the Parent Teacher Association, and was a Past President, at the Crowell and Nettle Schools. A longtime and active resident of the Mission Towers Community in Haverhill, her family is grateful for the many friendships that she developed during her years of residence.

Affectionately known as "Mimi", she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen A. and Karen Custeau of Haverhill, and David S. and Rachel Custeau of Plaistow, NH, a daughter, Jane C. O'Leary of Hampton, NH, and two grandchildren, Margaret C. O'Leary and Thomas S. O'Leary both of Hampton. She was predeceased by her former husband, Rudolph G. Custeau, two brothers, William Cashman and Howard J. Cashman, Jr., and a sister, Margaret A. "Annette" Perri.

Mrs. Custeau's Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday, January 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will begin on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Haverhill. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Bethany Homes, 10 Phoenix Row, Haverhill, MA 01832.
