Obituary

Mary Luella (Savarese) (Averill) Adamski passed away Thursday, July 21 st , 2022, after a brief battle with leukemia. She is survived by her husband Theodore Adamski of Exeter, NH; daughter Lauren Simmonds (née Averill) (Darrin) of Peachtree City, GA; son Peter Averill (Susan) of Georgia, VT; son David Averill (Sherri) of Plaistow, NH; daughter Katherine Averill (Perry Smith) of Atkinson, NH; daughter Carolyn Averill (Scott Senter) of East Kingston, NH; her 12 grandchildren, Caitlin, Courtney, Trevor, Hannah, Annie, Summer, Susannah, Quinn, Olivia, Luke, Rosalie, and Dylan; three great-grandchildren, Luella, Sadie, and Averill; and many lifelong friends. She is predeceased by her first husband, Philip Averill; parents Anthony and Muriel (Rambo) Savarese, and brothers Roy and Robert Savarese.

Mary Lou was born in Hackensack, NJ, on August 21 st , 1939, and grew up in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. She graduated from Pascack Valley High School in 1957, and was a 1960 graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing in New York City as a registered nurse. Mary Lou was deeply proud of her nursing career. In 1960 Mary Lou married her high school sweetheart Philip Averill and they lived with their five children in Montvale, NJ. Mary Lou loved adventure. In 1973, she and Phil moved to Danville, NH, where they co-owned the Danville Camping Area with Phil's sister Betsy and her husband Jack Hackett. After the loss of her husband Phil in 1984, Mary Lou raised her family independently. She returned to nursing full time, completing her nursing career at Rockingham County Nursing Home as a nursing supervisor. She met Theodore Adamski and they married in 2003. Mary Lou and Ted built a loving home in Exeter, NH, and enjoyed gardening, traveling, cruise nights, and picnics at the beach.

A lover of books, game nights, movies, the beach, and laughter, her favorite moments were spent surrounded by her family. Mary Lou loved her community, volunteering at her children's schools, leading girl and boy scouts, and participating in Friends of the Library. As a member of the First Congregational Church of Kingston Mary Lou was an active participant and leader of the Pastoral Care Team, through which she helped countless members of the community. Mary Lou had the biggest heart and was kind to all. Her legacy lives on in her family and beloved friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 4 th at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home at 116 Main Street in Plaistow, NH from 4:00 – 7:00pm. A funeral will be held at the First Congregational Church of Kingston at 6 Church Street in Kingston, NH on Friday, August 5 th 11:00am. Donations can be made by donating blood or platelets at a local Red Cross blood drive and to the Pastoral Care Fund at First Congregational Church of Kingston.
