Hampstead, NH: Martin L. "Marty" London, 69, of Hampstead, died Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Born in Houlton, Maine, he was the son of the late Jack M. and Emilie (Grindle) London. After graduating from Orono High School in 1974, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving four years as an EM2 Second Class on USS Vega and USS Sacramento before his honorable discharge during the Vietnam era. He continued as a Second Class Active Reserve for five years. He graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Marty was employed for 33 years as a Lead Network Engineer by Verizon before retiring. In his retirement, he was a beloved beekeeper who kept hives, sold local honey, and connected with the community to educate about bees.
Marty was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; and known affectionately as "papai" by his grandchildren. He was an avid fly-fisherman, and he enjoyed camping with his family. He was a world traveler, having extensively traveled throughout North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
He is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of twenty-nine years Gail (Renda) Bacheller London, four sons, Tyler J. London and his wife Mackenzie of Saco, ME; Graham M. Bacheller and his wife Vanessa of West Newbury, MA; Jared W. Bacheller of Cambridge, MA; and Brent P. Bacheller and his wife Kennedy of Arrowsic, ME, and five grandchildren, Jack London, Jackson, Maxwell and Samuel Bacheller, and Fox Bacheller. He was predeceased by his sister Bonnie Bishop.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hampstead Congregational Church, Main Street, Hampstead, NH. His funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. A private family burial service will be held at a later date.
